Check out a sale at the point of sale

The Point of Sale (POS) in Nadigit IMS is built for fast checkout, at the counter or on a mobile till. You reach it via Point of Sale in the side menu.

If that entry is missing, the module may have been switched off in the settings: see Enabling or disabling the point of sale.

  1. Shop and warehouse of the sale.
  2. Item search by name, reference or SKU.
  3. Cart: quantity and price of each line.
  4. Payment: quick amounts and payment method.
Open the session first

The point of sale needs an open session: click Open Session in the banner. See Opening and closing the till, and Making your first sale for an illustrated walkthrough.

Shop and warehouse

At the top of the screen, two lists show the shop and the warehouse in use. The items offered and the stock deducted are those of that warehouse: change it if an item does not show up.

Find and add items

The Quick sale area lets you find an item in several ways:

  • Scan a barcode or a SKU;
  • Search by name, reference or SKU;
  • navigate with the keyboard: open the list with the arrow, move with ↑ ↓, then Enter;
  • tap a line on a touch screen.

For an item sold by weight or measure, enter the quantity (for example 1.5 kg). The + and − buttons adjust each line, and a line's unit price can be edited directly in the cart.

Variant items (fashion & apparel)

For items available in sizes/colors, the POS offers a Browse styles mode: scan the style label to pick the variant, or a SKU to add it straight to the cart.

Soft reservations

When soft reservations are active, the items in your cart are reserved for you during the sale: other tills temporarily see less stock, which prevents selling the same unit twice. Stock checks are validated server-side when adding or changing quantities.

The reservation expires if the cart stays inactive too long. The feature is off by default and also covers back-office orders: see Soft stock reservations.

Take payment

Paying on credit

The Credit method appears only when a named customer is selected: a walk-in customer cannot buy on credit. Once the customer is chosen, their credit standing is shown at checkout. See Selling on credit.

  1. In the Payment panel, choose the payment method: Cash, Card, Check, Transfer, BOE or Digital Wallet.
  2. For a cash payment, enter the amount received with the keypad or the quick amounts: the change is computed automatically.
  3. Click Complete Checkout. The Checkout dialog lets you add a payment (payment in several methods) and print the receipt; confirm with Complete Checkout.

The stock of the sold items is deducted automatically and the sale is recorded in your reports.

The receipt

After confirmation, you can print or share the receipt, including as a thermal PDF (80 mm) for ticket printers.

X and Z register reports

From the point of sale you can generate:

  • the X report: an interim view of the till during the day, without closing anything, as a PDF or Thermal PDF (80mm);
  • the Z report: the closing view, downloaded when the cash register is closed in Finance → Treasury → Cash Registers.

Lock the till

You can lock the point of sale between two customers or during an absence. The user's POS PIN, set on their account, unlocks it: handy to protect the till on a shared workstation.
