Track your sales and customers
Beyond checkout, Nadigit IMS keeps the history of your sales and a record for each of your customers.
The sales document cycle
As with purchases, a sale can follow a document chain:
- Quote: a price proposal sent to the customer.
- Confirmed order: the accepted quote, now a firm order.
- Delivery note: handing the goods to the customer (impacts stock).
- Invoice (invoiced / closed): the accounting document requesting payment.
Depending on your business, you may use only part of this chain: a counter sale through the point of sale is instant, whereas a B2B sale often goes through a quote then an invoice. These documents live under Sales → Sales documents.
The sales process mode decides whether that sequence is merely possible or actually enforced. It defaults to hybrid, which imposes no sequence. See Process modes.
Enabling or disabling the point of sale
The point of sale is a module that can be switched off. The setting POS enabled sits under System settings → Global settings, and it is on by default.
Once it is off:
- the POS module disappears from the navigation;
- direct access to the point-of-sale page is blocked;
- a cashier who signs in lands on their profile instead of the till.
Back-office sales carry on working normally. This is the setting to use if your business sells to order only, with no counter.
On the first selection of an activity profile, some profiles set this for you. Only the wholesale profile disables the point of sale, counter selling not being part of how it works. The others leave it on. Check this setting after picking a profile, and switch the point of sale back on if your organization needs it.
Review sales
The Sales module lists every transaction: date, amount, payment method, items and seller. You can:
- filter by period, customer or status;
- open a sale to see its detail;
- print or reissue a receipt.
Stock reserved while drafting
If soft reservations are enabled, quantities added to an order being drafted are reserved for you: other users see reduced availability until you confirm, or until the reservation expires. See Soft stock reservations.
Customers
Each sale can be linked to a customer to track their history and, where relevant, their credit. Creating customers (Individual / Company, ICE), the customer record and customer credit are detailed on a dedicated page:
Returns and refunds
For a return, open the relevant sale (or Sales → Returns) and start a return. Stock is restored, the movement is traced, and a refund can be issued to the customer (see Finance & treasury).
