Transferring stock between two warehouses

What is it for?

When goods leave one warehouse for another, a warehouse transfer removes them from the source warehouse and adds them to the destination warehouse, with a trace in the stock movements.

Inoxal example: 20 square tubes and 10 frame profiles leave Dépôt principal Nador for Dépôt Selouane.

Before you start

  • Your organization has at least two warehouses. Adding warehouses requires the Business plan or higher, and so do transfers.
  • You have the Warehouseman or Administrator role.

Steps

  1. Open Inventory → Warehouse Transfers, then New Transfer.
  2. Choose the Source Warehouse and the Destination Warehouse. The transfer date defaults to today.
  3. Add a note, for example the reason for the transfer.
  4. For each item, click Add Item, choose the Item and enter the Quantity.
  5. Click Save.

The transfer gets a TRF-… reference. Depending on your organization's settings, it is applied immediately (status Completed) or waits to be validated.

Good to know

  • If the item did not exist yet in the destination warehouse, it is created automatically there with the same reference and details.
  • Each warehouse keeps its own stock: in the items list, the same item appears once per warehouse.
  • The point of sale sells from the warehouse shown at the top of the till screen.
